FORBIDS DAUGHTER'S
MATCH, LOSES WIFE
-----
Father Asks Warrant for Man He
Declares Married Girl, but
Finally Decides to Drop the
Matter

Deserted by his wife because he refused to sanction the marriage of their daughter Catherine to Joseph Christian, John Klies, 7706 Aberdeen avenue, yesterday discovered that the marriage he opposed had taken place despite his vigilance. At least he believes so and demanded of Police Prosecutor Geier yesterday that Christian be arrested. The irate father excitedly declared that Catherine is only thirteen years old.

“She is far too young to think of matrimony,” he wailed, “and besides I won’t have Christian for a son-in-law.” Klies said his wife, who approved Catherine’s choice, had left his home with their daughter and told of futile efforts to locate them. He showed a letter received yesterday from Mrs. Klies telling him of Catherine’s marriage. Police Prosecutor Geier advised Klies to submit definite proof of Catherine’s age before he would consider taking action.

The girl gave her age as eighteen years when she applied for the license. Klies admitted his daughter would easily pass for a girl of that age, but declares she was born January 20, 1901 and points to the records of St. Casmir’s Church, 8223 Sowinski avenue, where he says Catherine was baptized, as proof.

“However, I am through with both my wife and daughter,” Klies decleared. “I never want to see them again.” As an afterthought he modified this by saying he would receive them both if they would come back without Christian. Christian came to the Klein home last winter and roomed with them. He immediately paid ardent court to Catherine. Klies resented this and last week ordered Christian from his home. Mrs. Klies and Catherine left with Christian, he said.
