Sad Thanksgiving for Young
Man Who Killed
Collector.

John Kleis, found guilty of manslaughter yesterday, will have a sorrowful Thanksgiving. His young wife sat at his side when the jury brought in its verdict, and broke down weeping. When the deputy sheriff led him to jail, she followed nervously. When the jail door was reached she brushed away those before her and threw herself sobbing on her husband’s shoulder.

Kleis has been out on bail since his trial began. He seemed hopeful that his plea of self-defense would be believed. The blow came to both with double force. Kleis struck Charles Breitwieser, a collector, in a saloon on Pulaski av., N.E., several months ago. Breitweiser lingered between life and death at St. Clair hospital for days. He died, leaving a wife and baby boy.
