MAN DIES OF STAB WOUND

Assailant Escapes After Attack
on Eighteenth Near Tracy

A man identified as Waddell Keith, Negro, about 30, was stabbed fatally late last night in the 1200 block of East Eighteenth street.

Witnesses told police they saw a man flourishing a long knife pursue Keith east on Eighteenth and strike him as they neared Tracy avenue. Police found Keith about sixty feet north of the corner on the east sidewalk of Tracy, a deep wound in the left side of the chest. He died a few minutes later. The assailant ran north on Tracy. Getz Magady, deputy coroner, said none of the papers in Keith’s billfold carried an address. The body was taken to the E. Sterling Bills funeral home.

[note: the location described in the article, 60 feet north of intersection on the eastern sidewalk of Tracy Ave, would today be just to the east side of the small basketball court – and about in the picnic tables – located in the back of the Howard B. Breen Building, Kansas City Area Transportation Authority.]
