At the coroner’s inquest yesterday on the death of Kate Conroy, who was murdered by her husband, Frank Conroy, after the physicians were sworn and described the condition of the body and testified as to the result of the autopsy, Edward Day was placed on the witness stand. He testified that he was twenty-one years of age and lived on Gibbs street in the second ward, about six blocks from the scene of the murder. About 11 o’clock he was in Mrs. Derby’s apartments in the tenement upstairs over Conroy’s. A woman went to Mrs. Derby’s apartments and said that Mrs. Conroy was calling. He went down stairs and the street door of Conroy’s apartments was open. He went as far as the door.
