OBITUARY
MRS. LUCY HALEY
From Gate City, Dec. 20
Mrs. Lucy Webster Haley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Conn, was born in 1881 in Knox county, Mo. She grew to womanhood in Kahoka, Mo., and was united in marriage to Pearlie Franklin Webster, who preceded her in death some years ago, at St. Louis.
Two children were born to them, Lloyd Russel Webster of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Pearl Griffith of Keokuk. Later she married Wm. Haley, to which union were born two sons, Theodore and James Haley of Keokuk.
She united with the First African Baptist church of this city and was an earnest and faithful worker for the welfare of the church. After going to Chicago she attended the Ebenezer Baptist church.
She departed this life Dec. 21, 1930 at Chicago, Ill. She leaves to mourn her passing her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Conn of Keokuk; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Docia Crook of Peoria, Ill., Mrs. Cora Wright of Milwaukee, Mrs. Eunice Townsend of Chicago, Ill., John Conn of Kahoka, Mo., Roby Conn of Chicago, Ill., and her husband.
The funeral services for the late Mrs. Lucy Webster Haley, who was killed in Chicago recently, were held from the First African Baptist church Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with the Rev. A. T. Allen, assisted by the Rev. D. H. Byrd officiating.
The pallbearers were I. E. Willis, Charles McCutcheon, Sylvester Cooper, William Carr, Joseph Fields and John Buford. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery.
